1. INTRODUCTION Language and communication are the active tools of art, science and technology. It can be considered as an
indispensable skill that an effective user of any language needs to acknowledge the general and specific use of
language in communication. As language is instrumental for communication, it is the basic criteria where one could
put forward to express their thoughts. If the language is the source to deliver the thoughts and ideas, communication
is the process to engage the speaker and listener to employ the act of sending and receiving the message or
information. Language is broadly influenced through cognitive and behaviouristic learning, and now language
learning is more technology driven today (Ahmadi, 2018). Language behavior is highly affected through the innate
processing of mind and communication behavior is affected by personal, social, cultural, business and technical
factors that lead to the domains of sociolinguistics, ethnolinguistics and neurolinguistics. If communication is the
life of all arts, science and technology, language is the soul and spirit of expression. The language of general
literature, the language of arts, science and technology varies. Apparently, the language of functional and
interactional communication varies too. Being language is the means for the expression of both humans and animals,
even the very computers are related with language packages to instil machine-oriented communication and
translation. Hence, English being a global language and common lingua franca for professional, technical and social
communication, varies according to the use of varied disciplines and communicative contexts (Seidlhofer, 2011;
Taavitsainen, & Päivi, 2008). In this paper, a critical review on the use and usage of English is undertaken and it is
attempted that a learner should be able to get acquainted and understand the distinctive role and use of varied
language models and its specificity in the context of communication.
