2.6.8 Family background

C.M Abdulla Moulawi known as Qāḍi of Chemberika and Mangalore and the vice president of Samstha Kerala Jamiyathul Ulama was really belonging to an eminent lineage. His family root ends to the virtuous and pious scholars.83 Unfortunately, the history of this family background not found as it deserves. We got only the history five generation of this spiritually rich family. To put it in another way, this family ends in one of belowed companion of prophet Muhammed (PBUH)84

This real history of this family starts from the pious ancestor called as Pokarsha who was grandfather of C.M Usthād’s father -the former Chemberika Qāḍi C Muhammed Kunchi Musliyar. Pokkarcha (pokkucha) settled in Chemmand, it was then cultural centre of the Ksaaragod situates adjacent to Chandragiri River. Pokarsha shifted with his family from Chemnad to Chemberika following a devine message got him in his dream. After he settled in Chemberikka, he spent his valuable times with prayers and wordships. He used to recite Qurān repeatedly most of his times. He used to say the visitors who came seeking his presence, “here remains I and a tree only”. Acutually this word he spoke was the word of pious slaves of Allāh.Becaus they dodn’t think about nothing except Allāh because they fully devoted them to the will of god.

His son Abdulla known as Abdulla al-Jamhari was a great orator and versatile scholar of his time. People were calling him Andu Musliyar. He served as Qāḍi of Orvangara, Kiyoor, and Terrotories. (Finally, he breathed his last, when the cholera affected this area defectively). He had eight children including three sons. Among them elder son was C.Muhmmed Kunchi Musliyar father of C.M Usthād’s father85.

C.Muhammed Musliyar father of CM Usthād was born in Chemberikka as son of Abdulla Musliyar and Maryam Umma.He started his primary education from his father. When he was ten-year-old father passed away. Then he studied from Kiyoor Abdulla Kunchi Hāji (May Allāh bless him) who husband his sistester. Abdulla Kunchi Hāji served in Grand Masjid of Kasargod and Thrikaripur Masjid. Along with him, C.M Usthād studied in his dars. Muhammed Kunchi Musliyar studied near Ayincheri Musliyar in Kasaragod, and when he shifted to Vayakkad, he went with him. His uncle had small business in religious educational centre Ponnāni, so he also accompanied him for few times. After his study was completed, he returned to his native. In 1938, he was appointed as Qāḍi of Kiyoor, and became mudaris in Orabangara Masjid. He was going to his dars from Chemberikka to Oravangara by walking. In other words, he continued this walking for 25 years.

When this virtuous scholar was going to dars, the people of different religion were coming to his house to get his blessings. Many of them converted to Islmam and they were brought to his house to get barkath (purification. Eespecially anglers were going to him to find solutions for their problems and troubles. In addition, they were donating big fishes to Qāḍi because they loved him very much, and they respected him as a real guide and master.86

In his last times, he was unable to teach, so the responsibility of dars was gaven to his son. however, until his last time he was Qāḍi of many places like, Kiyoor, Melparamba, Chemberikka, Kalanad, Deli, Uduma, Mangad, Pakyara, Bandichal, Bayikkara, Aloor, in these 12 places he carried his duty as a Qāḍi,(the relioius judge). In Hijra 1393-Arabic month dulka’d -Friday he was demised. His mausoleum (qabr) situates in south part of maqam of Masjid. Adjacent to it, is the mausoleum of C.M Usthād. He set for hajj three times, and in his last time also he was prpared to perform Hajj but unfortunately, he was taken ill and he passed away from this world. (May Allāh bless us with him) C.M Usthād has written a book about his lineage named Kanzul Fatah in Arābic Malayalam.
