This is how our speaking will be assessed

HOW IELTS SPEAKING IS ASSESSED❓
NUMBER 1
When evaluating "IELTS speaking" alone, a half band score cannot be given to pronunciation.
It's wrong to say ↙️

  Pronunciation 6.5+
  
• 
  Grammar 6.0✓⬛
  
• 
  Fluency 7.5+
  
• 
  Lexical resource 7.0⬛✓
  

NUMBER 2
However, if the following is the case, your speaking will be 6.5

• 
  Fluency and Coherence 7.0
  
• 
  Grammatical range/accuracy 7.0
  
• 
  Lexical resource 7.0
  
• 
  Pronunciation 6.0
  

Overall: 6.5
Because, when evaluating speaking itself, the score rounds down (to 6.5)

NUMBER 3

If the following is the case, the overall band score will be 7.0

• 
  Listening 7.0
  
• 
  Speaking 7.0
  
• 
  Reading 7.0
  
• 
  Writing 6.0
  

Overall: 7.0

Here the score rounds up to 7.0

Because, assessing speaking is different than assessing an overall band score.

  Your accent is not evaluated but your pronunciation is.

  You can get a band 9 with a bad accent yet with correct pronunciation
  

Enunciation - pronouncing words in a clear and attractive way.
Grammar
Range - a variety of grammar structures that you use.


Accuracy - error-free grammar sentences that you make.
Band 9

• 
  produces consistently accurate structures apart from "slips" characteristics of native speaker speech
  

Band 8

• 
  produces a majority of error-free sentences with only very occasional inappropriacies or basic/non- systematic errors
  

Systematic - always, constantly.
Non-systematic - makes a mistake one time, and the next time that mistake won't be repeated.
