Fault diagnosis
Fault diagnosis is the process of tracing a fault by identifying its symptoms, applying knowledge, and analyzing test results. Fault detection and diagnostics software (FDD) identifies anomalies in the performance of critical equipment such as boilers, chillers, motors, elevators, pumps, exhaust fans, etc. Fault diagnosis and prognosis are important tools for the reliability, availability, and survivability of navy all- electric ships (AES). Extending the fault detection and diagnosis into predictive maintenance increases the value of this technology.
The traditional diagnosis can be viewed as a single diagnostic agent having a model of the component or the whole system to be diagnosed. This becomes inadequate when the components or system become large, complex, and even distributed as on navy electric ships. For such systems, the software multi-agents may offer a solution. A key benefit of software agents is their ability to automatically perform complex tasks in place of human operators. After briefly reviewing traditional fault diagnosis and software agent technologies, can be used to support the drastic manning reduction requirements for future navy ships. Example are given on the existing naval applications and research on detection, diagnostic, and prognostic software agents. Current work on a multi-agent system for shipboard power systems is presented as an example of system level application.
Task 2. Circle T for true or F for false.
1. Wrong diagnosis is the procedure of making false identification of its symptoms. T/F
2. Fault diagnosis can’t be used to support the requirements of workers’ reduction. T/F
3. Software multi-agent does not have to figure out the solution. T/F
4. Today’s work of multi-agent field for power systems is introduced. T/F
5. Software agent doesn’t have to solve complicated tasks. T/F
6. Fault detection and diagnosis software specifies anomalies in the performance of essential instrument and device. T/F
7. The traditional diagnosis able to be discussed as a single diagnosis proxy. T/F
