Activity 3a Read and say what horses can do. 5 min Objectives: to improve the pupils’ reading skills; to prepare for the next activity. Explain to the pupils that this is an entry about a hoarse from encyclopedia. Ask them to read the sentences attentively and try to understand the meaning. They can discuss it with their partners.
Horses are big animals.
They are white, black and brown.
They can run, jump and swim.
They like eating grass.
Activity 3b Choose an animal and write. Objective: to improve the pupils’ writing skills Ask the pupils to choose any domestic animal and write an encyclopedia entry of it in their Workbooks like the one in Activity 3a.
Activity 4a Work in pairs. Play “What animal am I?” Objective: to consolidate all the learnt material Ask the pupils to work in pairs. Pupil A describes an animal as in the example in the book and Pupil B finds what animal it is. Then they change the roles.
e.g. A: I live on the farm. I can run and jump.
I like eating grass, I have four legs and a long tail. I am brown.
B: Are you a horse?
A: Yes!
Activity 4b Work in groups. On the Farm Objective: to consolidate all the learnt farm animals, to classify the following words under the appropriate heading, to give the names of the farm animals.
