The first such loan was provided to Georgia in 2007 as a loan for the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway. The first $ 220 million low-interest loan is now $ 775 million. As for the importance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway for the country, it should be noted that the executor of this project and the main financier is Azerbaijan. This road will significantly increase the volume of cargo transported from the region to Turkey, as well as to Europe. BTK also means the shortest railway connection between Azerbaijan and Europe, and there is no need to comment on how important it is for the economic interests of our country.

During the visit of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Azerbaijan in mid-2010, the President of Belarus discussed with the President of Azerbaijan certain important issues, and an agreement was reached on a short-term loan of $ 200 million. Of course, the fact that this issue was the subject of negotiations at the level of heads of state was primarily due to the fact that Azerbaijan has always been friendly to partner countries with its financial resources. After that, the $ 300 million loan to Belaruskalium was the result of these factors.

In 2012, the geography of lending countries in Azerbaijan expanded. Our country has allocated a loan of 300 million euros to Serbia for the construction of the XI Corridor highway between Serbia and Montenegro, which connects the Lig and Prelina territories. It should be noted that Azerbaijani companies are also involved in the construction of the highway, which is being built on a 15-year loan at 4% for 3 years.

It is also possible to increase the list. But in short, in recent years, Azerbaijan has invested more than $ 10 billion in foreign countries. More than $ 5 billion has been invested in Turkey and about $ 1 billion in Georgia. However, the volume of foreign investments of our country is growing over the years. If we look at the indicators of the last 3 years, it is possible to clearly see this dynamic. Thus, if in 2010 the amount of foreign investments in Azerbaijan was 232 million, in 2011 - 533 million dollars, last year this amount reached 1 billion 125 million dollars. It should be noted that in addition to the countries we have mentioned (Belarus, Serbia, Turkey, Georgia), there are developed countries such as Russia, Moldova, Ukraine and even Switzerland.
