Topics for discussion:

Task 1: Answer the following questions in writing!

1. 
   What PhUs are called proverbs? Give your own examples
   

Proverbs are short sentences, usually known by many people, stating smth commonly experienced or giving advice, usually of ancient origin that express effectively some commonplace truth or useful thought.
Eg: East or west home is best.
As we see, structurally proverbs can be simple, compound and complex sentences.

   What is the difference between proverbs and sayings? Give own examples

   What functions are performed by proverbs and sayings?
   

Proverbs function as ‘‘folk wisdom’’ as a general advice how to act and live. Because they are folk wisdom, they often reflect the cultural values and physical environment from which arise ,
