Project Background
•
This Biology CBI/CLIL manual is part of an
English Language Specialist
project entitled “Building CBI/CLIL Teacher Capacity and Success” and is
supported by the U.S. Department of State English Language Programs, the U.S.
Embassy in Tashkent, Urgench State University (UrSU) and Uzbekistan State
World Languages University Professor Dr. Axmedova Layloxon Tolibjonovna.

The project began in December 2021with a series of 12
online English for
Academic (EAP) Writing classes taught online for UrSU teachers by E.
Vivianna Marcel, U.S. Department of State, English Language Specialist
English Language Specialist. A 12 part video series was created by Ms. Marcel
which included all material from the online
classes plus added teaching
methodology suggestions. The videos were placed on the Urgench State
University YouTube Channel and are now available, at no cost, to persons (in
Uzbekistan and across the world) interested English
Academic Writing and
Teaching Methodology.

For the second phase of the project Ms. Marcel was brought to Uzbekistan and
was in residence at Urgench State University in Urgench. from 5 September -
28 November, 2022. Ms. Marcel in collaboration
with many Urgench State
University Biology and English Language administrators and teachers,
Uzbekistan State World Languages University Professor Dr.
Axmedova
