INTRODUCTION
1.
The Ministry of Innovative Development (MID) implements the
Modernizing Uzbekistan’s
National Innovation System (MUNIS) project under the Financing Agreement (FA) between the
Republic of Uzbekistan and the International Development Association of the World Bank (WB),
signed on May 17, 2021.

The MUNIS project is aligned and complementary to several ongoing and planned initiatives
of the MID, aimed towards increasing the coverage and effectiveness of scientific activities in the
innovative development of the country's economy, ensuring the effectiveness of commercialization
and technology transfer, forming an integral startup ecosystem, supporting an initiative society
actively participating in innovative development, increasing the share of research and development
and innovative products in the gross domestic product (GDP) aimed at creating new products and
new jobs focused on the consumer market, as well as improving the quality of life of the population,
including in remote regions.

The MUNIS project’s main goal is to contribute to the development of the National
