Devices based on HRT combine a glueless  

mixture of mechanically-treated cellulose fibres 

and gelling agents. Comparative in vitro tests have 

shown antibacterial and antifungal properties 

of the dressing, implying that their application 

could aid treatment of wound infections through 

entrapment of microorganisms, while wound 

exudate is being absorbed.
